So we are doing episode six. Yep. Return of the Jedi. This is going to be our Star Wars rewatch marathon or series, I guess you would say. Right. So this is going to be part three. And the next one we will be doing will be going to the prequels, starting with Phantom Menace. So this one is Return of the Jedi. So, you know, this movie, we're going to try to go scene by scene with this movie as best as we can. Right. So this one is going to be, you know, so this is so the next, like, they they're broken up pretty much into three acts, right? So act one, you would say, is like, you know, jab the hut, Job of the Hut, the Sarlax scene, right? Right. So this movie, I think, is is, you know, this is like where you, you know, the droids are out in the desert.

Right. That's what uh C3PO and R2 D2 are walking to come into Job of the Hut's um lair, right? Yeah, and they get in and they stay, they're trying to negotiate. Yeah. For they send them video, right? Right. Yeah. These are my droids. These are my droids, yes. You may have them and da-da-da, and we want Han Solo back and yada yada. And then that's when uh was like, well, D won't go with no.

She got she came in after because she, like he said, she's the bounty man.

But yo, so this movie, I swear. This it was crazy. It was off the hook. You know, Job of the Hut Man. But when they get to the part where they're out in the desert already by that time, it's almost like as if he knew it was gonna happen out that way, anyway. Like well, you know, R2 was at the right place to shoot the lightsaber, the lightsaber into the sky. He gets it, right? The sleigh lives does whatever.

Um if I'm getting that correct. Not yet. You move too fast. Oh no, I'm sorry, did you say you said when he went to the desert? Because he didn't do it in the desert. Yeah, because when Luke came in, right, he tried to he said whatever, and it was the rancor.

And the rancors are kind of interesting uh creatures. They're actually from uh they are from Dathmir, which is the planet that is Darth Malls from the pre-create and the Dathmira wishes, if you really want to get into the expanded universe of Star Wars. But that's so there, it's like uh this planet that's like, you know, like wishes are from and rocks and shit. That like a rancor is from Dath Mirror. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can picture them out there just chilling. Yeah, so like, you know, he's got that whole so Job of the Huss world, he's got that whole like crime lord energy, you know. That his whole palace, it's so it's interesting, right? His whole palace is all set up weird. You know, it's got he's got like all these, like, I guess like just he's like entertainment going 24-7 on his palace. Like a big party based on 24-7. And he chills.

Luke’s Jedi Shift And The Rancor

He's there and he like he's passed out and shit, yeah, laid out, and everybody else is doing whatever they're doing and having good. He's probably high on spice. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Because that's what he was always trying to smuggle. That's what his uh thing was. So the spice step in it's his own stash. The Jabba the Hutt. Oh, yeah. That was his thing. That was the drug, so he would get the spice. And they had a matter of fact, a few episodes, sidebar, kind of sad, but it's still Star Wars, in the Bad Batch. That was a few times that they were trying to get uh that they had come across Jabba or just other criminal families trying to get the spice because the spice was what they used to get high and shit. Yeah, fucking crazy.

So yeah, so so then you finally get Luke's arrival, right? Right, yeah. So like he goes and he's and and you know, now he's see this is the difference between this movie. When he he comes in, he's got full Jedi vibes. Yeah. There is no you you know, like in the fur in the first two movies, well, the first definitely not the first movie, he was still kind of farm boy and trying to. Empire Strikes Back. I mean, uh even Empire Strikes Back, he's still trying to figure himself out. Like when he goes in there, you can see he's confident.

And it's interesting because so calm, but he kind of does look dark, right? Because he's got the black on, which is like typically, which is not like typical Jedi.

Well, that's what the whole idea was, because he was still trying to figure out light he was doing, right? Right, because he still was unsure because of, you know, he still had his anger, you know, he wasn't being he wasn't surrounded anymore by that by everybody telling him what to do so much. You know what I'm saying? Like Obi-Wan was like, you know, hey, this is what you gotta do. You're the one, that kind of shit. You know what?

I'm gonna say I'm gonna say that without without the evil part, it's a hot take. He's kind of acting like Vader a little bit. You know what the way his he's carries in car carries himself? And that's when they take everybody else to rank on that thing, and that's when he went bananas, you know, out. He knew also that architect.

Since we are doing the rewatch, we assume anyone else might be listening as a rewatch. But if you watch the Boba Fett series, you get to see how close the Rancor trainer really is to the Rancors and how like how you see like they're yeah, like they're like Family for them. They're like, but the the the the thing is is like they're actually friendly when they're bonded. Right. They're not like vicious, they're they're like super, you know, so it's interesting. That's why you kind of see why that the trainers cries like that. Like so like devastated and you're like, that's kind of such a like a funny scene.

But I mean, movie, you know, when it's almost like you just you just gave the kill signal to the you know to you know, when you have like attack dogs or training dogs, whatever, you know, police dogs and shit, you have that one word and it goes after the same thing with the rancors. So now you got Job of the Hutt.

He's got his cruiser out there in the desert and the Sarlac. So out there you got Boba Fett. Yeah, Boba Fett's out there. Boba Fett's out there. Because you know what it is? I think that's the thing too. What happened Boba Fett's just hanging? I guess what happened after he delivered Han Solo, the Job of the Hutt was like, hey, you want to hang out with me for a while? I got a good going, and Boba Fett's just like, yeah, sure, so are you? Or or maybe hired him as a bodyguard. Because that's the thing that I was kind of confused about. That but what was he doing?

So he's kind of he's a so he was a bounty from but right, but he's a so Boba Fett being the bounty hunter, yeah, he would go out and collect, so he was almost like the muscle for Jabba. Yeah, he was smart as well. So that then he would turn around and you know, you know, I need Han Solo, go bring him back to me because he owes me money, you know? Right. And then if you looked at half the people that were there in Jabba's palace and hanging out, all those crazy guys, people, they were the bounty hunters. Yeah, yeah. They were the ones, you know, they were he had an army of the.

Sarlacc Pit Escape And Boba’s Fall

He followed him, man. He just stayed and yeah, yeah. So so yeah, so they go out on the cruiser to the Sarlac Pit, right? Yep. So you got that whole that whole crew there, right? Yep. So like what is the um the what do you call it? The plan? No, so like, so like eventually sorry, I I got a little so Leia gets so Leia actually is the one who uh kills Job of the Hut. She means Yeah, with the chain. Right, with the chain, right? She chokes him up. Right.

And then that's when he turned around and like you said, he gets to the plank. Right. He turned around and he drops, but he's on the air. You know, R2, R2 like, 'cause Luke R2 had the uh the lightsaber, shoots it up into the air, does his little boom, bounces off of the grabs it? The the thing. He like cuts his cuts the uh boom boom boom boom, starts shooting, you know, when they start shooting him, then that's when they uh when what's his name? Uh Lando Carissian. Right. He turned around and now he's shooting back and he's helping him. And Han started to fall in and almost falling. Chewy, right, Chewy like pulling him back up and shit. Just pull me up, you stupid fur ball. Yeah, doing that shit. Yeah, that would and that was cool. Who was it that aimed the the uh the the the guns to the was that Luke as he was coming around and one night, he took the guns and he aimed them at the He turned the gun, well, so did Leah.

To the deck and they blew that shit up. And then by that time, that's who came and picked them up? Oh no, they jumped into the other uh the other glider thing. Yeah. Yeah, that was that was the super the speeder. I'm sorry, into the speeder. They were out. Listen, that was an exciting scene for that one. So when that movie opened it like that, yeah. Yeah, to that was in the first.

That was uh that was the there was an famous audiobook, and and that that was the uh uh it's funny because like at the audiobook they used to say they're weaving through the trees at breakneck speed. That's so the so you got that scene with Leah Leah is choking chokes out um Jabba the Hutt. Jabba Hut Jabba Hud's dead, kills Jabba the Hutz. So then Boba Fett, man, what a you know, for such a great warrior, such a lame death, he just like tumbles in and goes into the sodlack pit. Yeah, which of course he doesn't die, but you know, we assume at that point when people saw the movie. No, he didn't. Well, well, if you watch the Fett series, he got out. He got out. But we assume he died. Right.

Again, I forgot about that. For the most part, people see in this movie just assume he was dead. They were kind of on a lot, they kind of brought him back to that story. Bye-bye. Yeah, yeah. But anyway, so you know, he's gone, you know, so they get out, you know, they they he's he's out, you know. Every and you know, like I said, it was smart that Luke had the lightsaber hidden in R2. Yeah. Got that out and he took care of business. Yeah.

You know, he was yeah, he was 100% with that shit, bro. Oh, yeah. Well, I'm lying. To me, he was more like at a 85-90% because he still wasn't using the force the way that he could have.

Yoda’s Farewell And Obi-Wan’s Truth

Well, yeah. So then now, and then so now they get up in the plane, then into the plane. Ha ha. He gets into his X-Wing Fighter, everybody else got into the um Millennium Falcon. Right. And then that's when he went to go see Yoda. Right, and Yoda dies in that scene. Right. Yeah. And then uh It was good though. Yeah. It was it was it was it was good because you know, Luke went to go see him, and then he like, you know, talking to Yoda and Yoda telling him, you know, yeah, the force is strong with you. Yeah, yeah. Yes, yeah. And he says to Yeah.

Death Star II Reveal And Palpatine Arrives

So the next scene you got the rebel briefing, and you have the reveal of Death Star 2. Another destruction. Yes. So this is uh a pivotal scene, and this is also the first scene that you actually see Emperor Palpatine uh in person. Uh because you only saw him through like a screen or whatever.

So that's the first time you actually see him on screen is when uh his ship is landing, and you know it's like everybody's lined up. Yeah. He's got that thing there. Like everybody is just lined up on the hangar. Yeah. Because, you know. Even the janitors were there. Yeah. Yeah, man. And the droids were there.

Yeah, yeah. Don't touch him. Don't shake his hand. He's a he's electric. Woogie, woogie, woogie, woogie, woogie, woogie. Yeah. Yep. And then what's his name? Uh Vader. When Vader comes down, so when Vader comes to greet him, Vader takes a knee. Yeah. That to me bugged me out.

And he also made it like not easy to use to keep him frustrated and angry, also to weaker than the Emperor, and he purposely made it uh like weak to force to electric. So Yeah, I didn't know that. So like But that's the thing is, and that that's when the Emperor stopped. So the rule of two is is and the whole point of the rule of two with the Sith is so to distill the um the the Sith. Like each the Sith ma uh apprentice has to kill their master. So like you are become stronger and stronger each generation because you have to you have to become more powerful than your master and kill the master. So if the apprentice keeps coming, so every time there's another one, they become stronger, right? So but he made the apprentice too weak to kill him, so he broke the rule of two. Right. So it kind of punched. That's that he's not like no longer really following the Sith. Yeah, right. He's kind of going rogue.

So spoiler alert. So yeah. So the next scene, and now Luke leaves for Dagaba. Right. Right. He gets to Dagaba, he's Yoda's Yoda's dying. Yeah. So what, he's like a thousand years old now by the time or something like that. He's close, he's pushing 900. Right.

Because he stopped becoming Darth Vader after he became or he after he became Darth Vader. His former self seems to say, so I was technically Tabla. Come on. That is like some shady shit. Like he had to. Yeah, yeah.

Because he saw what happened to Anakin to become Darth.

And he confirmed that, yeah, Vader is your father. Vader is Anakin Skywalker, basically.

Yeah, yeah. And because he knew when he got there, he knew that that uh father was gonna be there, that that Vader was gonna be there. He's coming, or whatever.

And people knew they would show they were on the planet already before they're talking about.

And you know, this is like I I have to say, I think the scene when they're still on Andor and he's talking to Vader on that platform. Right, he's talk I'm Anakin's bleeding through at that point. Yeah. I really do think he is. I think when when when when he's talking to him, he's like, It's too late, I can't. Like that's not Vader. That's not Vader talking. Yeah, no, no. That's Anakin cracking through. Yeah, definitely. I think so. Yeah. And he's like, you know what I mean? He's he's telling him, like, there's I don't have a choice. Like, you know, I think he it's really this is this is when the cracks are forming, I think. Right. I really do think that conversation he has with him beforehand and saying, like, I will not fight you or whatever, he's like, you know, and he's like, Oh well he's like, they bring up so he brings he brings him to the Death Star, which is yeah, which is kind of crazy. You're bringing the person who destroyed the first Death Star on this Death Star. Right.
